So, I have a massive exhaust leak on the Y-tube going into the turbo (the exhaust feed into the turbo) so I decided to drop the transmission in order to take out the tube and see what needs to be fixed. I have a 2003 6.0 with the TorqShift 5R110W transmission. After reading my Hayes manual it seems like a breeze. Unfortunately, the manual doesn't seem to match the transmission I have. The part I get stuck at is where you take off the access panel to unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel. Apparently on this transmission there isn't an access panel on but rather a rubber plug that you can pull out to access the nuts holding the torque converter to the flywheel. Here is my problem. After unbolting everything necessary I figure out that there isn't an access panel and you must look through this small hole to unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel. My question is how do you turn the flywheel in order to get to every nut? I called a local Ford dealership and they told me that you had to turn over the starter and basically its a luck of the draw if the nut lines up in front of the hole. I just can' t believe that this is how its done... Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
