Rear Diff Assembly Pins

I removed the rear diff plate from a 2006 Dodge 1500 to find one of the assembly pins had fallen out. The owner had the gear pack replaced under warranty. The Dodge house says they need to be replaced. Owners of other Dodge trucks say they have never heard of this problem and have never had any trouble. Any comments from anyone!?
