With 47,612 miles on my 2005 6.0L I had a failed U-joint, when I went to replace it I noticed that none of the U joints in the front or rear driveshafts have grease fittings. Anyone know why the new trucks don't come with them and how often I should grease the new u joints I installed in my rear driveshaft? I looked at my front steering and none of the ball joints, steering have grease fittings, just the front axle shafts. I'm installing greaseable u joints in my front driveshaft next week so I won't have problems with the front driveshaft since I leave it locked in 4x4 all winter. Rodney

I would grease them every 5K to 7K miles. And only 4 fittings on the front end tie rods, my friend with a 03 P/S he greases the front end only once a year when we do an oil change. He hasn't lost a U-joint or ball joints yet and he has 80K miles on his truck.
With my 02 D/A, it has 11 fittings on the front end, and no grease fittings on the U-Joints. I'va pulled the drive shaft had to grease the slip joint and then I checked the U-Joints and they seemed OK at 127K miles. I should have a couple along just in case one goes bad.;)
