Is there a better year Powerstroke model than another?
F150, F250, F350?
Ford does have the most widely used diesel, correct?
When searching on Ebay motors, most models of reasonable cost have 100-150,000 miles. Is there a lot of life left in these?
I know that diesel engines are of better quality than their gas counterparts, but most gas engines with 100,000 miles or more are worn out.
Thanks for your help.

If your looking at the older 7.3L's, the 2000-2001 models were the best ones, I believe in 2002 they went to a powder coated rod that has had issues holding up when you start pumping up the horsepower. I have an 01', modded pretty well, and so far at 105k, no problems at all, I'm knocking on wood not to jinx it :)

dont get a ford. buy a dodge with a cummins. they are the longest lasting motors on the market. it is very easy for one to go 500,000+ miles with no problems at all. i know guys with over 1,000,000+ miles on there cummins powered dodges. the powerstrokes wont last near as long.

before you ask why, for one the I-6 cummins has less moving parts, a longer bore and stroke and they have been around for years.

no the dodge trannys are not as bad as they are made out to be. they will last as long as you take care of it. if you start to mod your truck then yes then you will have tranny problems, or if you abuse it.

i know alot of ford guys who have had more problems with there trannys than dodge.

JUST MY $.02

I had a woman come up to me in a parking lot the other day asking if I was involved in the alternative fuel movement. Confusing " synthetics " with alternative fuels. I told her to check out this forum for information. Here is a link to checkout also- http://www.wibiodiesel.org/
