A question that is asked: How do you adjust the emergency brake on a 2002 D/A HD? They adjust just like rear drum brakes, because the emergency brake shoes are inside of the drum rotor. Lift the rear axle off the floor so both wheels can turn, because of the locking rear end. Remove the rubber plugs. The adjustment wheel is on the bottom of the backing plate on the drivers side and on the top on the passenger side. I had to adjust each brake about 7 to 8 clicks until that wheel wouldn't turn by hand and then back off about 3 to 4 clicks. When both brakes were adjusted I went for a drive to make sure they didn't heat up. The passenger side is more difficult to reach because the adjuster is on top of the backing plate, I had to reach over the wheel, but was able to do the adjustment.
