excursion

2005 6.0 Excursion making loose sounding noises when idling on warm up.
Dealer says it is nothing, don't worry. Normal. It's not normal if it didn't make that sound before. Engine light has gone on a few times.
Anybody?

If youe check engine light has come ,get it scanned to see whats going on with that!

FYI, this is for a friend. I heard the engine shortly after startup, the loose sound
began. Front passenger side mostly.
I suppose it's best to have dealer scan codes or check turbo possibly.
Diesel Engineer, anything come to mind. Noise does seem to stop after a few minutes of warming up.

Can oil analysis diagnose bearing wear? Actual condition inside engine before something goes BAD?
A dealer has always serviced this one.
Anyone use 5w40 in their 6.0 & why? Advantages?
