We have a 02 SLT Ram 2500 with the towing package and plan to pull a 32 ft. Montana with 3 slides. I know a person who is pulling 28 ft. 5th wheel and he adviced me that I should put another transmission cooler on the vehicle because the transmission would would overheat and burn out the trans.
He is pulling with a 2000 Chevy 350 dually and a auto trans.
Any thoughts on this.
Thanks

What engine does the Ram have? And how much does the trailor weigh?

The 5.9L is a hell of a motor, and its a pulling machine, the down side is, it is not so nice to transmissions. If you have a factory cooler, I would upgrade to a much larger one, and if you dont have one, get one. :D

Good luck.

I hade a 02 CTD Auto and pulled a 30 ft 5th wheel at 7800 lbs, did not have a problem at all. If you have the 5.9 Cummins in your Ram you will pull fine, on the trans the 47RE is not a bad trans, I would change the trans filter and fluid, to something like Amsoil ATF to keep the temperature running as low as possible. Your truck should already have a trans cooler on it. I would also suggest a transmission temp gauge.
