I have been trying to trace an intermittent surge as you could see from a previous post. I was going back over things this afternoon and found the plug on the ICP Sensor full of oil when I disconnected it. I am assuming that the oil is coming from the inside since the plug is sealed. I think I may have located the cause of my surge. Has anybody else ever seen oil in the plug?

Replaced the ICP yesterday afternoon. It seems to have solved the surge problem. We have driven about 20 miles so far and it hasn't missed a beat. Sounds a whole lot better too. I will have to wait and see if that was it for sure as it was pretty intermittent before and would sometimes not show up for days at a time.

Did anyone scan it for you frist? If did you have a ICP code? Was the check engine light on?

Yes, I had scanned it. No there was no code, that is what has been driving me crazy, it has thrown no codes. No, the MIL was not on. It ran good for about a week and a half, then it started missing again, really bad the first time then back to the way it had been. I have since opened it up to check the Under Valve Cover Harnesses. Neither of them looked bad, but one threw erratic readings on the resistance so I replaced it. I am doing some other work while it is apart so I won't know if that was the problem for a couple of more days. The day I found the oil in the sensor I was also checking all of the other plugs for tightness, including the outer plugs on the UVC harnesses. The next time I started it I got a code for a glow plug circuit. As I said, a couple more days before it will be back together.
